Being that the Endup has an advantage of having the "one and only" grandfather clocked in afterhours license in the county of San Francisco and they win Best After Hours every year, isn't it time to take this category off the table since no one else really can win?

Posted by Anonymous on Jul. 27, 2011 @ 2:11 pm

There are numerous continuing private after-hours, but those probably can't be considered.

There are plenty of other wonderful competitors in this category, and if we removed a category of interest just because one contestant has won before then that would be unfair. Some other competitors, like DNA, Mighty, and Public Works won in other categories, so there are indeed possibilities of inclusion. Also, our Best of the Bay is of great use to visitors coming to the city for the first time, who have no prior knowledge of past winners. Congratulations to the End Up! And thanks to all the other afterhours clubs that campaigned to be voted best this year.

There are numerous venues around this city that are open after hours. Not sure what you guys are talking about. Endup won because it's an institution. Plus, afterhours at the endup isn't after 2am. It's after 6am. lol

Nice to see that this songwriter has gotten some visibility outside of his club circuit/cult following. He really is deserving of this acknowledgement and of broader awareness. His song craft is brilliant. Check out "Voice of Johnny Cash". http://bit.ly/ofz2aQ

With this award, perhaps one day, he will Break Free of these Bars he's playing in.
