Nopa? are you kidding me? just goes to show there so many people - at least a majority of the people who were polled - are food lemming blindly following whatever's trendy.

Papalote? this place is a joke. $20 for a burrito, up $5 because they were featured on the food channel. This is on the list for the same reason the Governator got elected - people see 'em on TV.

Burger Meister? of course, with several locations, its like stuffing the ballot box. again, visibility to people who wouldn't dare step into a place that wasn't a chain.

ah, lame.

Nopa's been open for about eight years now (I miss doing my laundry in that building), so I'd hardly call it trendy. Papalote is quite delicious, and run by some pretty hip people. And Burger Meister isn't exactly Wendy's or even IN 'N Out ... I'm not sure what could have won that would satisfy you if it's not allowed to be popular?

You're clueless.

NOPA is a great restaurant. Best in the city? No, not in my opinion, but still quite good.

In regards to Papalote, their standard burritos are in the $7-$8 range. This is overpriced compared to Farolito or Cancun, sure, but the quality of the ingredients is better and the environment is cleaner. Having said that, I prefer Farolito.

OMG! WTF ! Are you out of your minds?

This place is like cockroaches crawing out from underneath the refrigerator to feed at night.
Rejoice ye dregs of the after hours-- You have been acknowledged by your peers!!

What did you guys do---bus in a bunch of senior citizens from Sacramento to 'VOTE THE BEST OF THE BAY 2010?!!!

1. Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds are great ball players but their records HAVE to have the Steroid Tweeker (*) next to it. Same with Corporate Winners on Food. McDonalds and Burgermeister may make good burgers but it ain't "Le Merde Roi" that we SF Debauchees demand.

BURGER AND FRIES for me means TWO STOPS. One to Big Als (Albany) for their fire roasted OAK Scented Cheeseburgers (order NOTHING ELSE) and a trip across the bay to FRITZ Belgian Fries for my Groot Fries and exotic dips (vietnamese chili and the other red one). I then pick up a bottle of Chemay Red Ale, drive to Baker Beach and exclaim to the unwashed masses: "Ho Hum; Another day in Paradice!!"

2. Mexican Food. Again, you have to differantate between a 'sit down Mexican Resturant' and a Taqueria which aren't the same thing. My favourite TAQ is Pancho Via's on 16th and Vee. The Carne Asada and Garlic Shrimp is out of this world. I will try your new recommendation but I don't know if it is a TAQ or a SitDown. Since EVERYONE on the East Coast considers Sacramento to be part of the bay area, I would include El Mariachis (4th &G Davis) as a WORLD Class TAQ. They have 32 Freakin' hot sauses for you humble-assed Carne Assada Taco (a fist full of steak for $2.50?!!!) In the mood for a Pumpkin Medium Challot Sauce? Perhaps Pineapple is more your style. Dude, 32 F**kin' flavours, none of them from a packet or bottle!!!

3. Indian Food---HELL NO!!! Hands down it has to be Shalamars on Jones. I have seduced and abandoned many a fair maid with promises of mouth watering Merg Boti Tanduri, Bathalmic Rice and fresh baked NON over crisp onions. Warning: Do not go dancing afterwards!!! Indian Curry will sweat through your pores and people will make fun of your 'Stinky' Girlfriend (FYI: I had guys coming up to me complaining about my 'smelly' date and I had to defend her honour: I said: "I feel sorry for her. They busted a pipe at her gym and she didn't get a chance to shower---Still, She made our date on time. Now that is what I call a WOMAN!!! Besides, Didn't Napoleon order Josephine not to bath before they did the Dirty Monkey Dance? Looks like I'm going to get me some 'STINK' tonight!!!

4. The BEST Barbeque USED to be People's Choice until the fool accidently burnt it to the ground. Now it is Memphis Millies on lower Height. FYI, You can get into FIST FIGHTS in the South over BBQ. There are THREE Styles of BBQ. North Carolina (vinager based), Saint Louis (rub based) and TEXAS (just slop the sauce on everything and let GOD sort it out). We piss-ignorant Californias ALWAYS order TEXAS style BBQ because, well, we don't know any better!!! Want to get thrown out on your ass at MM? Take your rib order back and shout "HEY, BUDDY!!! How come there ain't no BBQ sauce on my RIBS? Don't Ya'll know how to cook or is it Ya'll being cheap wid da Brothers?!!! (Hint: If you spend 8hrs on your feet slow cooking meat, and some Geechie ass Fool wants to ruin it with cheap-ass ketchup, mollassas and liquid smoke---I'd go POSTAL ON HIS ASS TOO!!!).

5. Scomas and SeaFood do not match (even with a dipping plate of BP oil on the side). Scoma's food is FRESH but FLAVOURLESS!!! I perfer Aguas or Le Boulevard

6. Best Splurge---Dankos? People go to Dankos for the Wait staff's RIM JOBS. I mean, they make you feel better that shopping at Nordstroms. Problem is, you can't eat Customer Service. There has got to be superb product in which to provide Customer service for. There are better splurge joints in SF. Call the Bell City Manager for his recommendations...

7. Best FOOD COURT (in case your'e slumming or too lazy to drive your ass into the city) The FOOD COURT AT EMERYVILLE. They have approximately twenty mini resturants there, however, my two favourites are THE GREEK RESTURANT (FRESH GYRO TO DIE FOR and Soborovs Korean Food (I like the Kagogi, Teriacki Chicken and Spicy Pork Combo with Kempshi). I adore Korean Food but with Korean Food, you never immediately lie down after eating it. Why? Do you know what happens when you drop a minthos into a liter of Coke? Well, imagine the minthos was dropped in your stomach and the coke comes out your mouth...BURNING YOUR THROAT while doing it!!!

really committed. Love it.

Not quite sure how this place ranks as the best burrito in SF. Now, I'm a bit biased as I'm from LA and love Mexican food, but the burrito (chicken) that I had at Papalote and their chips and salsa (on the 7x7 List of Things to Eat and Drink) were underwhelming.

Not bad, but honestly, I've had much better burritos and for that price, Chipotle is probably a better bargain.

Posted by Guest on Aug. 20, 2010 @ 6:18 pm

Ive had 15 different super burrito's in the 6 weeks Ive lived in SF. Papalote is middle of the pack.
My Top 3:
1. Farolito
2. Little Chihuahua
3. Pancho Villa
