David Chiu, the fashion mayor

There's a new fashion in the mayor's race, and it's ... accessories! This new mailer says to vote for Sup. David Chiu because he knows how to accessorize -- check out the cool glasses, and the sensible yet snazzy shoes and the high-tech wristwatch. Oh, and there's a laptop/cell phone/ipad, a checkbook, a scissors, a red pen, a calculator and a set of scales, which I assume are to measure out justice and not medical marijuana. Although that's fashionable, too. On the back of the mailer a nicely-dressed line of people stands out in front of City Hall in some sort of synchronized dance step; they all have their left hands pointed up. Cute.

Except THEY don't all look alike - you know?

Posted by guest on Nov. 01, 2011 @ 4:06 pm

They're all for diversity when it's a nice, fuzzy concept. Not when it's in their own back yard.

Posted by Guest on Nov. 01, 2011 @ 4:19 pm

that's certainly the case.

I'm voting for Leland Yee.

Besides, I may or may not be Asian. I never talked about my ethnicity.

They're actually interested in business success and making money.

"They're actually interested in business success and making money."

So Asians aren't supposed to care about social justice, just making money? Wow! Talk about stereotyping!

And btw, I'm not a liberal.

Stats show Asians out-performing even whites academically, financially and professionally, and are way ahead of other ethnic groups.

The only reason they don't have more power in the US is because they are only 4% of the national population. But in SF, they are almost one third.

Don't under-estimate them and their ambition. Colectively, they aren't particularly left-wing.

are great at telling the rest of us about your "blacks" and your Asian stereotypes.

You should really put a sock in it every day at 6 AM, because it's obvious that you're nothing more than an idiotic conservative Troll with a pathological desperation for the last word.
You embarrass yourself every day.

Don't understand the squat.

Posted by Guest on Nov. 01, 2011 @ 4:03 pm

He's been shitting on the people of San Francisco for the last two years.

From your link:

"Originating in India, the squat made its way to China, where Asians figured that it was the ideal way to eat rice and be ready to defecate at any given time."

right above your article criticizing him.

Good to see your principles don't prevent taking his cash (or rather, our cash) even while you try and diss him. No wonder the SFBG supports public financing.

The same people would be complaining of discrimination.

Have you seen how thin the paper copy is these days? They lost all those hooker ad's to the internet.

While they settled for pennies on the dolalr on that dumb lawsuit, and so had to fire staff.

I actually love the fact that the Guardian prints a critical article right beneath the ad.

1. It shows independence from one's advertisers, which is exactly what we don't see enough of in the corporate press.

2. It's sort of karmic justice to take his cash and then sling mud at him. Small time stuff compared to the way Treacherous Chiu treated the progressives who elected him, but I do like the gesture.

Well that's two points, so sue me.

Looks like a rich Republican. Thinks like one as well. Actually is one.

So that's your theory shot down in flames already.

That is quite an awkward poster. I wonder if it was badly done on purpose so that the poster does not take itself too seriously, or it was just a badly done marketing ploy.
